We would like to thank our local communities for your outpouring of kindness, and support for our remarkable staff during the pandemic. Your thoughtfulness meant so much to the teams; knowing you were thinking of them really helped to boost morale at such a challenging time.
COVID-19 confronted NHS teams and individuals with demands of a type, intensity, volume and longevity that were unprecedented, and understandably this has taken its toll.
We are committed to supporting the Royal Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust in building on its existing work to support the physical and mental health recovery of all staff to enable them to continue to provide the best quality care for patients.
A number of initiatives and projects are underway, including the provision of a staff health and wellbeing centre.
The centre will be a hub for staff support of all kinds including wellbeing and exercise facilities and classes for all levels of capability and commitment including yoga, pilates and a gym. The critical importance of mental health and wellbeing is also well provided for, with quiet spaces for reflection, meditation, mindfulness and psychological support sessions.
The garden will serve as a beautiful, spacious area, to allow for quiet contemplation in scenic surroundings, a space to socialise and eat, as well as allowing for physical activity with an outdoor gym, outdoor games and therapeutic gardening activities that will also help to manage and maintain the space. It will also include a memorial garden for our staff members who sadly lost their lives in service to our community.
