When we say that you’ll be leaving a legacy to 700,000 people, it’s because that’s the number of people who are cared for by the Royal Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust and its associated Health Centres, every year. It’s a lot of people – an entire community. Any legacy you leave to us will be used to benefit that community – your community.
Any money you choose to leave us will allow us to continue to work towards providing the equipment, facilities and training that the Royal Berks needs to remain at the cutting edge of healthcare. Bequeathing money to us means you’ll truly be leaving a legacy, a legacy of outstanding health facilities for the people of Berkshire.
If there’s a department or service in the hospital that has had an impact in your life, you can donate money to them. Please do contact us, as we’re always available to explain and help you with the process.
Alternatively, you can leave a legacy to the Royal Berks Charity in general – in which case, we’ll make sure it goes to the fundraising appeal that most needs help when we receive your gift.
Either way, you can be sure that leaving money to us will help to boost healthcare in your county for years to come.
Like all charities, we depend a great deal on people like you – people who generously leave gifts in their will. Legacies are a major source of our revenue, in fact; around 50% of all our money comes from them. Quite simply, we wouldn’t be able to do our job without people like you.
We’re here to provide the money for anything that isn’t covered by NHS funding, big or small.
Every penny helps and a small donation of £1 buys a pot of Therapy Putty. It’s an essential item used by therapists in treating patients who have suffered a stroke helping rebuild muscle strength.
A legacy to the Royal Berks Charity is one from which your surviving family members may benefit too.
Not only because they may one day find themselves being cared for by the hospital – but also because leaving a gift in your will can help reduce your tax bill. The value of any gift will be deducted from your estate for inheritance tax purposes.
Leaving a gift to a charity in your will is a highly personal and private decision. However, if you’d like to discuss anything with us, we’d be happy to chat with you – please feel free to call us on the number below.
For any charity, knowing in advance about a future bequest is extremely helpful. It allows us to plan for the future – and we’ll also be able to keep you informed about our work and fundraising projects, which we would very much like to do.
But before you contact us, please speak to your solicitor. There are a number of different ways to leave money to charity – as a residuary gift, a pecuniary bequest or as a specific legacy. Your solicitor will be able to advise which method would be best for you.
And above all, thank you for thinking of us.
