Help improve the environment for our younger patients and their families
Our fantastic paediatric team at the Royal Berkshire Hospital work tirelessly to ensure younger patients and their families feel reassured and at ease during their hospital stay; they are always looking at how they can improve the care and experience for their patients.
The Royal Berks Charity has launched an appeal to support their latest project to enhance the environment on the 44 bedded paediatric ward, which cares for patients who range in age from newborn to 16 years old.
An initial improvement will be the replacement of the current overnight bedside facilities – a number of worn out and uncomfortable camp beds with 44 reclining chairs. The recliners will ensure parents and carers are as comfortable as possible during a difficult time and will greatly enhance their experience.
Another element of the project will be the refurbishment of the playroom, an essential facility for the children. Therapeutic play can ease any feelings of anxiety and help recovery, and along with the amazing play team is a key component of the children’s’ stay.
