An open letter from our Director

Dear Supporter,

I’m very sorry to have to write to let you know that we have taken the difficult decision to postpone our ‘Thanksgiving to the NHS at Christmas’ service at Reading Minster on Tuesday 7th December.

I’m sure you’ll appreciate that, given recent concerns about the new COVID variant Omicron, and the continuing high case numbers that we have had to consider very carefully whether to proceed with an event of this scale. It has been a hard decision to make. However, we feel that given the current circumstances we would not be able to have a fitting thanksgiving service for our NHS staff and the wider community at present.

Our decision has been guided by discussions with the Royal Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust leadership team.

Please accept our apologies for any inconvenience this may cause; we are sure you will understand both our wish to have a fitting thanksgiving service for our NHS and the need to be cautious given these uncertain times.

Thank you for your continuing support, and we very much hope you will join us at our rescheduled event in the spring. We will be in touch as soon as we have a new date in the diary. I would like to thank publicly all of those who have made such an effort to prepare for next week’s event particularly the team at the Minister.

With kind regards and good wishes for a safe, healthy and happy Christmas and New Year.
