Jacobs Jewellers Smashes £39,000 Fundraising Target for Royal Berks Charity

We’re delighted to share the incredible news that local independent business Jacobs Jewellers has officially exceeded its ambitious £39,000 fundraising target for the Royal Berks Charity, raising over £44,200 (with more still to come!).

The Jacobs for Cardiology appeal was launched in January 2023 in partnership with Royal Berks Charity to help enhance the patient experience in the Cardiology Department at the Royal Berkshire Hospital. With the support of generous donors, creative fundraisers, and the unwavering spirit of the local Reading community, the appeal has now reached — and surpassed — its goal.

A significant boost to the campaign came from a generous supporting donation from the British Allied Trade Federation, which the National Association of Jewellers (of which Jacobs is a member) belongs to.

The appeal culminated in a fantastic Jacobs Summer Social on July 24th, where an additional £2,000 was raised through a lively evening of activities, including a quiz, raffle, auction, DJ requests, and even CPR training. That brought the running total on the night to over £44,200, with final fundraising still ongoing.

“The Jacobs team are over the moon to have reached our fundraising goal,” said Adam Jacobs of Jacobs Jewellers. “As an independent business in Reading, we genuinely care about our community and treasure the Royal Berkshire Hospital – as we know many of our loyal customers do too. We know patients will have a much better experience when the work is completed and it’s a real pleasure to be able to contribute. Our thanks to everyone who donated, fundraised, and got involved – and of course to all the incredible staff in the Cardiac team for everything they do.”

The money raised will be used to make real, lasting improvements to the Cardiology Department – including new seating areas, digital information screens, and a state-of-the-art audio visual system to enhance comfort for patients during their visit.

Jo Warrior, Charity Director at Royal Berks Charity, added: “This is such a wonderful moment. We’ve seen so many people get involved – from bake sales and a salsa charity event to local businesses pitching in – and every single effort has helped get us here. We’re so grateful to the Jacobs team and to everyone who played a part. It’s amazing what we can achieve together.”

We’re incredibly grateful to Jacobs Jewellers and to everyone who has supported this appeal. If you’ve been inspired by their efforts, there are always ways to get involved and support projects that help make the Royal Berkshire Hospital the best it can be for everyone.
