Charity:              Royal Berks Charity

Report to:          Fundraising Manager

Time & Dates:   Various dates across the year

Why do we need your help?

Volunteering with the Royal Berks Charity demonstrates your commitment to protecting your local hospital and the services it provides, NHS patient care and staff wellbeing. The Royal Berks Charity raises money to support NHS patients, staff, and volunteers in ways above and beyond what NHS funding can ordinarily provide. Join our friendly and reliable ad hoc volunteering team we call our ‘RBC action team’ and help us fundraise, create memorable events, raise awareness and campaign. From marathons and festivals to supermarket collections and black tie events there are plenty of events to get involved with where your time will make a difference to your local NHS charity and your community.

What will I be doing?

You’ll provide support when you can, depending on activities taking place in our events calendar, which could include:

  • Marshall, cheer, collect money or provide practical support in other ways at our events – from walks to marathons, cycles, swims and race days. Other locations may be festivals/gigs, special events, fetes, and balls
  • Support the Royal Berks Charity by spreading the word through campaigning, in-office support, putting up posters, and using your social media accounts
  • Other ad-hoc activities which may arise on the day

What skills/experience do I need?

  • Excellent communication skills
  • A personal and friendly manner
  • Flexibility to be called upon when needed
  • An honest and trustworthy nature

How much of my time would you like?

This is a completely flexible volunteer role, for which we’d recommend a few hours every few months, or more if you have the time. You will be notified of new opportunities by email and phone.

How will I be trained and supported?

Receive a briefing and support on the day, and reimbursement of pre-agreed expenses

within our guidelines

What can I gain from volunteering with you?

  • The satisfaction of knowing that you are making a valuable contribution to your local NHS charity
  • Be a part of a friendly team that makes a difference in the community
  • Utilising your existing skills as well as developing and learning new ones

Where will I be based?

This role will be based within your local area, with the option to attend events further afield should you wish to.
