Health and Wellbeing in the garden

It is widely recognised that spending time outside in green spaces can help reduce feelings of stress, anxiety and depression, as well as having many other therapeutic benefits, such as better sleep, increased happiness and more positive social interactions.

The garden will be essential in supporting the ongoing emotional wellbeing of staff, as well as providing both the physical and psychological benefits of exercise, socialising and gardening. Our hard-working staff will be better equipped to not only cope with the professional demands placed on them but also generally have greater life satisfaction.

At approximately 2,400 square metres, the development of the garden will provide a restorative, tranquil haven to which staff can escape from daily pressures, and unwind, re-energise and reconnect with themselves and their colleagues. It will serve as a beautiful, spacious multifunctional area, to allow for quiet contemplation in scenic surroundings, a space to socialise and eat, as well as allowing for physical activity with an outdoor gym, outdoor games and therapeutic gardening activities that will also help to manage and maintain the space. It will also include a memorial garden for our staff members who sadly lost their lives in service of our community. With covered seating, heating and lighting in the plan staff will be able to enjoy being outdoors no matter what the time of year.
